Dolly Parton was born on January 19, 1946, on the 19th of January 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. She lived with 12 other children. The vivid imagination of her mother allowed her to escape the harsh realities of everyday life. Prior to learning how to write and read Dolly Parton was composing her own music. Once she had her first guitar at the age of 8, she began to play on radio stations in Knoxville in Tennessee.
