Rosie Perez

KimRosie Perez, born Rosa Maria Perez June 6, 1964, is an American dancer and actress. Her breakthrough came with her performance as Tina in the film Do the Right Thing (1989), and then White Men Can't Jump (1992). Perez's performance in Fearless (1993) earned her nominations for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in addition to other awards. Perez has appeared in a number of films since that time and has appeared in films such as It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado ((2000), Pineapple Express (2008) and Birds of Prey (2021). She was nominated for three Primetime Emmy Award nominations, one for In Living Color (1990-1994) and another for her character in The Flight Attendant (2020-2021). She has appeared in Broadway stage productions such as The Ritz and Frankie, Johnny in the Clair de Lune and Fish in the Dark. She was also a co-host on the ABC talk show The View during the series' 18th season. She attended Grover Cleveland High School, in the Ridgewood neighborhood in Queens. Her mother lived in the poverty of Woodside Houses by 1999. She died of complications from AIDS in 1999.
